I had the great pleasure of working with a self described ‘Country/folk acoustic rock trio’ Violent Hearts earlier this year on a live(ish) four track EP, and they released it today! Check it out here for free:

To best capture their live sound at the time I decided to set them all up in a circle in the same live room, as if they were having a regular practice, and experimented with a combination of room mics and close mics without much acoustic separation. This meant that the unmixed audio sounded pretty much as live straight off the bat! We then performed vocal overdubs, and finally a violin track. I’m happy with the final product, and I hope they are too.
