Give the new “Scissorkick Victory” EP a listen

At some point last year I worked with Cardiff based Punk band Scissorkick Victory on some tracks which have just been released as the ‘Literally Serious’ EP, check it out on Spotify here now!

This was probably the most fun I’ve ever had on a session. We set up the drummer in one room, the guitarists in another room, and had the bassist/ vocalist in the control room with me. They had such a fun energy that it would have been counterproductive to get them to play to a click or to layer it up track at a time, so I focussed on getting the best sound possible where they could all see each other and all play together. After spending most of a day getting the basic tracks down we spent an additional session overdubbing bass parts in a proper live room – using a bass room mic which I haven’t often done, but gave a huge and unique bass tone – as well as vocals and even a synth part or two.
